PERIODONTAL DISEASE
Restore gum health
Due to specialization in periodontology, we handle complex cases such as gingivitis and periodontitis. Gum disease is caused by the accumulation of plaque (a sticky form of bacteria) that forms on our teeth. If the plaque is not removed (through regular brushing and routine dental check-ups), it continues to build up and create toxins that harm the gums. Periodontal disease forms just below the gum line and creates small pockets that separate the gums from the teeth.
Periodontal disease has two stages:
- Gingivitis: This is the initial stage of gum disease, where the gums become red, swollen, and easily bleed. At this stage, the disease is treatable and can usually be eliminated with daily brushing and flossing.
- Periodontitis: If left untreated, gingivitis will progress to periodontitis and cause irreversible damage to the gums and teeth. Regular check-ups with the dentist (teeth cleaning), usually every 6 months, are recommended.
